Neue Geomantie /
New geomancy
... Wegweiser für die Zukunft ...
... Signposts to the future ...

In July 2021, the Pforzheim geomancy group applied for ORNAMENTA 2024.
In the project sketch at that time, the offer was made to draw the public's attention to special places in Pforzheim through art installations. Our proposal was appreciated by the curatorial team and was subsequently modified and revised in various ways.
Katharina Wahl made contact with the two British artists Mo Langmuir and Samuel Michael Collins as well as the Danish artist Shō Alexander Murayama. They had already worked intensively with landscape themes in the past and created impressive installations.
The collaboration between the geomancy group and the three artists proved to be extremely enriching and fruitful. On the basis of many questions and answers, the topics that arose could be intensively developed and elaborated.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the three artists and the curator Katharina Wahl for this stimulating and extraordinary collaboration.

The boundaries between the tangible and the intangible are to be broken down in an exchange of letters between the Pforzheim Geomantic Group and Mo Langmuir with the Strl_ group for the Solar Valley at Ornamenta. The results are maps and architectural interventions created in dialogue between the two collaborative partners. Geomancy is concerned with ways of perceiving the invisible world (especially the ethereal world), describing its properties and working with physical places. What does a geomantic world look like? What role does an extrasensory practice play in our natural and built environment?
Geomantische Spaziergänge / geomantic walks
Unsere geomantischen Spaziergänge beim Forum Hohenwart sind beendet. Wir boten fünf Spaziergänge beginnend mit dem 7. Juli 2024 an. Der letzte Spaziergang fand am 22. September 2024 statt.
Our geomantic walks at Forum Hohenwart are finished. We offered five walks starting on 7 July 2024. The last walk took place on 22 September 2024. With over 100 listeners, it more than met our expectations.
What Reinhard found most exciting was meeting and exchanging ideas with everyone interested in spiritual topics. Andrea Silvia found each walk to be different and rich in insights and the entire project with Sam, Mo, Sho and Katharina to be very enriching, which also generated new impulses for geomantic work in Pforzheim.

About geomancy
In geomancy, we deal with the levels of the earth that extend beyond the physical level - the etheric, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Each of these levels involves very specific phenomena and methods of interaction. In earlier epochs, people had a direct, figurative, but also unconscious approach to this. This is expressed in fairy tales and myths that speak of dragons, elemental beings, goddesses and angels. Today, the aim is to create conscious access to these living aspects of the earth and to create our own methods of perception and interaction. In a further step, we are asked to become creatively active in harmony with the earth itself and to make the earth a more liveable place for all beings.
The origins of geomancy go back to prehistoric times, when large-scale landscape-altering measures were already being taken, as described in the Atlantis series of books by Andreas Delor.
The methods of dealing with the living differ from conventional science, which is limited to the physical level and is extremely successful in this area. Research on the physical level requires verifiability and repeatability of the experiments and objectivity of the investigation and statements (see https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wissenschaft#Werte_der_Wissenschaft). However, it must be recognised that in some experiments the influence of the investigator on the result of the investigation cannot be ruled out - the result is then subjective.
In contrast, geomancy consciously recognises subjectivity. It does not see this as a shortcoming, but as a necessity in the subtle exploration of the living. This is because there is constant change in the realm of the living - no two enquiries are the same. In addition, living things can only be investigated if the human being not only observes, but also contributes himself "as a measuring instrument" (Gregor Arzt: Der Geomant als Zeuge und Werkzeug). In this respect, there is also a greater risk of perceptual errors. By comparing the subjective perceptions with the group, among other things, we try to come closer to objectifying the statements. Both scientific methods are justified in their field and require an unconditional striving for truth.
Meaning of the name:
The prefix Geo- (Greek) refers to the earth (Gaia, the earth as a living being).
Mantic: The interpretation of the invisible planes and the divine will.
Further aspects of geomancy from the perspective of some geomancers:
Marko Pogačnik on page 10 in his book "The Secret Life of the Earth" ( shortened):
Marko also refers to geomancy as sacred geography. It is not only about fostering interest in the ethereal, emotional and spiritual levels of the landscape, but also about a deeper, more loving and responsible relationship with the earth, the cosmos and all beings.
Wolfgang Körner (✝ 07/04/2023):
"Geomancy is the art with which I localise and interpret the subtle forces of a place and raise them to a higher energetic and spiritual level."
Ingrid Maria Tasch - www.inmata.de:
"Geomancy is a way of using perception to experience the earth cosmos with all the beings woven into it, to communicate with them and to co-operate creatively with each other."
Mirjana Zupan Leos - www.lebensnetz-geomantie.de:
"A holistic art in co-creative co-operation with the earth."
Hans-Joachim Aderhold, on page 15 of his book "Herzfeuer - Geomantische Gedichte":
Geomancy is the exploration of the earth, nature and the cosmos using subtle methods of perception and the consideration of the respective research results when shaping the world. In this way, burdens on people and the landscape can be avoided, blockages dissolved and destruction minimised. The perception of such connections leads to a deeper realisation of creation and enables its artistic and organic development. This also makes it possible to experience the earth as a living being and to accompany the process of change that has been taking place for several years.
Gregor Arzt (✝ 17.10.2022) - www.undinenhof.de:
Geomancy is the experiential science of the earth, which is perceived as being alive, soulful and spiritual. It combines spiritual, artistic, socio-cultural, therapeutic and scientific approaches as a holistic earth science.
Further aspects according to Hans-Joachim Aderhold (in a conversation in our geomancy group):
- In geomancy, heaven and earth are connected in the human being: This connection is not possible for any other being - not even an angel.
- Geomantic terrain work means creating a temporary community - also with angels and nature beings. With good will, every human being can make a full contribution to this.
- The geomantic exchange of what is perceived requires linguistic creativity.
- Earth transformation and human transformation go hand in hand and are interdependent.
